We haven’t heard much from BioWare about Mass Effect 4 in a long time. Back in November of 2014, the developer held a livestream roundtable to discuss the hotly anticipated title, and a few months prior we learned that the infamous, universally hated Mako vehicle from the original Mass Effect would make a return and try very hard to make up for its past mistakes. We also got a first-look preview back at E3 2014, the semi-teaser of which you can watch here. Now, according to a Reddit post over the weekend — mixed with a healthy dose of rumors and speculation — a survey was sent out that divulged a ton of potential details regarding BioWare’s upcoming installment.

Previously, we knew that Mass Effect 4 would likely not feature Commander Shepard or main characters from the previous trilogy. The game would, however, be set in the same universe and feature similar races from previously installments; a human and a krogan were shown. BioWare also noted that the location in which the upcoming game takes place is a whole new region of space. If the details of the survey are to be believed, then the next game will take place in the Andromeda Galaxy in a region of space known as the Helius Cluster — a cluster of hundreds of solar systems — the playable area of which is reported to be four times the size of Mass Effect 3. Players will assume the role of a pathfinder, a combat-trained explorer leading an expedition to the Helius Cluster to find a new home for humanity. You’ll run into an ancient alien race called the Remnant along the way, whose mysterious technology will hold the key to humanity’s survival. Of course, you’ll also run into both alien friend and foe alike, with whom you’ll create alliances or begin wars.
