If you are using Facebook’s default Messenger application you may have noticed that it sends read notifications automatically whenever you or a chat partner read messages in the app. While that is mighty useful at times, for instance to make sure that your date has indeed received word that you will be late a couple of minutes, it can also be stressful at other times.

Some feel pressured to answer right away when the other party knows that they have read the email, and senders may get irritated when they see that you have read a message but do not respond to it.

Privy Chat for Facebook is a free Android application that serves two main purposes. It first lets you read all Facebook chat messages and access all conversations that you have received in the past without read notifications. This means that you can read new messages without feeling pressured to reply immediately, because senders do not know that you have already read their messages.

You can furthermore retrieve a list of online friends from Facebook to see who is online and who is not.

You need to enter your Facebook login information on first start and allow Privy Chat for Facebook to access your public profile,  messages, chat status, friend’s chat status and to manage your messages on the social networking site.



The app displays a list of messages sorted by recency in its interface afterwards. It displays the sender’s profile photo, name, part of the message, time and an indicator whether the message has been marked as read or not. A closed eye indicates that the sender has not received read notifications yet, while an open eye means that this is the case.

The read notification is transferred as soon as you reply to a message in the application.

The application has two issues right now. It is currently not possible to start conversations using it. While you can reply to all participants who have messaged you or who you have messaged in the past, you cannot initiate a new conversation. There is also no way to send messages to group conversations.

A second issue is the inability to display some attachments, e.g. images attached to messages.

Verdict

Privy Chat for Facebook is currently only available for Android. It is not the only application available that provides you with that functionality. Most third party Facebook chat clients, for instance those based on Jabber, are not sending read notifications when you are using them.

Turok is the 2008 installment in the first-person shooter Turok video games series and is loosely based on comic series under the same name. The game was released in February 2008 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It was later ported on to Microsoft Windows in April 2008. Turokwas developed by Propaganda Games, published by Touchstone Games and distributed by Disney Interactive Studios. EA Sports is back with more high performance motorcycle racing in MOTO RACER 2. MOTO RACER 2 is essentially two motorcycle-racing games in one: you can race dirt or street bikes. The game has 32 tracks, some of which put you in the dirt with huge jumps that are good for trick jumping, while others are street courses that allow you to go full throttle and approach insanely high speeds. Also included is a 3D track editor, which allows you to increase or decrease elevation and make jumps and dangerous curves. While a decent remake of the original Pokemon games, Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green doesn't really do much that is going to change the minds of those who dislike the franchise. For longtime fans of Pokemon, this game offers the chance to aquire some of the previously unavailable Pokemon, but not much else. The game contains the same basic structure in moves, tactics and visuals as it's predicessors and does next to nothing when it comes to innovation.
    Combat in Pokemon FR/LG is fundamentally unchanged since the last GBA Pokemon game, Ruby and Sapphire. The player is tasked with putting together a team of six critters, each with their own stats, a maximum of four moves and an elemental type which determines weaknesses and resistances to other types. Combat proceeds in a one-on-one turn based fashion as it always has, althought the two-on-two battles from Pokemon R/S and Colosseum are carried over. The strategy involved in coming up with a team is an engaging piece of tactical workmanship, but it's not anything we haven't seen before. I would put to Nintendo that it may be time for an overhaul of the system - Pokemon is becoming somewhat repetitive.
    The story of Pokemon always seems to be the same. A young boy or girl leaves home to seek his or her fortune and glory amongst the great Pokemon trainers of the day. The story is fine, given that the audience it is aimed at is younger than average, but would a bit of a twist hurt? FR/LG follows the story of the original Pokemon trainer, Ash, and his rival, Gary. Of course, the player is given the option of renaming them so that there is no preset name to the hero and his rival, and indeed, even the genders thereof are optional. The story is remarkably consistant given the options available, but it lacks the depth and originality to make it really worth paying attention to.

A large number of new trainers await you.

    One of the best aspects of any Pokemon game is the sheer longevity of the title. The plot of Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green can be blown through in less than thirty hours, but the game doesn't end there. After beating the Elite Four, the player is given a whole other section of the Pokemon world to explore - the Sevii Islands. Composed of seven individual islands, the Sevii Islands subquest wraps up a few of the loose threads of the main plot while opening up some new and interesting questions, and more importantly, new trainers to battle. This subquest adds a great deal to playablity, and in general makes it a much better game.
    The biggest deal for longtime fans of the series, though, is going to be the new Move Tutors which can teach the critters moves that were contained in TMs in the original game. There's a catch, of course - Move Tutors work only once. But between that and a significantly more powerful Elite Four after completing the Sevii Islands, FR/LG offers some interesting new challenges for veterans.
    Control has recieved a considerable update from Ruby and Sapphire, and is a good deal more consistant now than it was. Menus are more responsive, and although the text has shrunk a bit, it is actually easier to read due to a greater level of detail and contrast in the graphics. The individual Pokemon's status screen in particular has recieved a considerable overhaul, although the transition was less kind here. The status screens look a bit cluttered now, and are less informative than they were. Visuals in general are mostly unchanged from R/S, which isn't necissarily a bad thing; the graphics of Ruby and Sapphire were by no means bad. They were, as FR/LG is now, a bit lacking in detail, but the cartoon style of the game still comes through very well. The only thing that really bothered me about the visual style was the design of the Pokemon present in this version of the game - compared to those present in Ruby and Sapphire, the Pokemon design seemed somewhat lackluster, somewhat less imaginative.

Old Gym Leaders recieve new outfits!

    As with previous incarnations of the series, Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green presents very little in the way of a direct challenge. Progressing through the main plot is largely a matter of selecting the correct type Pokemon to effectively hit your opponent's weakness. The computer AI is slightly better than previously - the computer will, at higher levels, use items on ailing Pokemon and on occassion even switch out Pokemon to better hit one of your weaknesses. In general, though, this game is not at all difficult and most opposing Pokemon can be defeated through a simple superiority of levels.
    The sound in Pokemon games has never been of much note, and FR/LG is no difference. The music, while certainly better than in the original Red and Blue, is poor quality both in composition and sound quality. The sound effects aren't much better, ranging from blips and beeps to the tinny, mechanical cries of Pokemon. While I understand the technological limitations of the GBA, Nintendo is certainly capable of better than this.
    In the end, Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green preserves what was fun about the series to begin with, but doesn't really do anything new or unusual. This game will probably not resonate amongst the general gaming population for the same reason the others didn't - simplistic plot, often bizarre creature design and an emphasis on collection over strategy - but for fans of the series, particularly those who missed the original Pokemon Red and Blue, it's certainly worth a look.

 Pokémon Emerald is the third game set in the land of Hoenn. On first looks this game seems to be identical to it's predecessors, Ruby & Sapphire, however there is much more that meet's the eye in this game
First thing you'll probably notice are the Pokémon's Animations, similar to how they were animated in Crystal, which are making a welcome return to the Pokémon games. Also, the graphics in this game are sharper than in Ruby/Sapphire with more detail to the overworld
Both Team Aqua & Team Magma are heavily involved in this game's storyline as they both try to awaken their respective Pokémons...and when they do, thats where the game radically changes from the other games with a whole bit where they battle and you have to stop them.
There is also inclusion of many new areas including Magma Hideout, Mirage Tower, Desert Underpass, Marine Cave, Terra Cave, Studio Cave & finally and most importantly, the Battle Frontier.
The Battle Frontier contains 7 buildings which all incorporate a different style of battling where you have to battle through multiple trainers to get to their leader's, The Frontier Brains. These battle styles include Rental Pokémon, Random Rooms, Relying on your Pokémon's Nature to battle, Tournements and many more...definitely a way to challenge any trainer
The Gym Leaders & Elite Four have also been updated with different Pokémon and a whole new gym leader! To make things even better you can rebattle the Gym Leaders up to 4 times via the Match Call feature

According to Tiscali Games, a number of new gameplay and story details for 2K Czech's open-world mobster simulator sequel Mafia 2 (PC, PS3, X360) have reportedly been revealed by an undisclosed print magazine.
A sequel to the studio's 2002 hit Mafia (PC, PS2, Xbox), Mafia 2 is said to contain no direct connection to the first title's story, and takes place in Empire City, loosely based on San Francisco circa 1950. The city is reportedly twice as big as the original game's Lost Heaven and includes a variety of unique locales and interior spaces.
Mafia 2 will also include a physical destruction model for cars featuring broken glass, exploding gas tanks and detailed body damage. Vehicles will have to be refueled at gas stations, and overtime will develop a thick coat of dirt and dust from your antics on the road, removable at a number of Empire City's car washes.
Players will be able to strengthen their characters by eating at local restaurants a la Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PC, PS2, Xbox), and change clothes at boutiques to evade pursuers. Mafia 2's combat will also feature a cover system similar to that of Epic Games' Gears of War (X360).
The developer, formerly known as Illusion Softworks, was purchased and rebranded as 2K Czech by parent company Take-Two earlier this year. Take-Two later announced Mafia 2 for a release sometime in the company's 2009 fiscal year, which runs from November 1, 2008 through October 31, 2009.

CoroCoro reveals new Pokemon, Mega Evolutions, type chart and more!

Someone has access to an Xbox One, and has posted the above video which takes a closer – and less PR fuelled – look at the Xbox One’s Dashboard, which resembles Windows 8′s tiles very much, as well as a quick look at Ryse.
I must admit, that controller looks really comfortable, though I’m not convinced the Dashboard is that great. There’s no way this is a fake, which raises the question of how he got the console so long before release.
What is odd is the fact that the game doesn’t pause when you go out to the Dashboard, instead minimising into a smaller window while still playing.

Then a new service called Pokémon Bank was announced, which is an online cloud storage service for your Pokémon! In Pokémon X&Y you will be able to send any Pokémon from your game to the Pokémon Bank. This will be a paid service - in Japan it's confirmed to be 500 Yen per year, which is about $5 or £3.
Furthermore, a new app called PokéTransporter will be released for 3DS. When you have any generation 5 game (Black/White/Black 2/White 2) in your 3DS, the PokéTransporter app will allow you to migrate the Pokémon off the cartridge and in to the Pokémon Bank. Then, back on Pokémon X&Y you can download them from the bank into your game!
Next up they talked about Mega Evolutions. It was confirmed that Professor Sycamore gives you one of the original starters - Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle - later in the game. But then it was confirmed that they all have Mega Evolutions! Also key to Mega Evolution is a new Mega Ring item, that causes Pokémon to Mega-Evolve when the ring connects with the Mega Stone the Pokémon is holding.
All three Mega Evolutions keep their type, but get new abilities. Mega Venusaur has Thick Fat (which halves the damage of Fire and Ice type attacks), and its Defense and Special Defense increase; Mega Charizard has Drought (makes it sunny) and its Special Attack increases; Mega Blastoise has a new ability Mega Launcher which makes pulse moves stronger (such as Water Pulse and Dark Pulse).
At one point Ishihara seemed to imply that every Pokémon will get a Mega Evolution: It's fun to imagine how each Pokémon will turn out with Mega Evolution. I want to see what happens to every single Pokémon. This is not 100% confirmed, however; it's possible that Mega Evolutions for all Pokémon will come in future games.
